Sri Lanka Premier League – 2012 Tournament starts in August. Sri Lanka, having verily understood the financial worth of cash-cow IPL, has launched its own Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL). Its first tournament will be held from 10th to 31st August. It couldn’t take off last year due to paucity of Indian stars.The organizers have been wise in planning it quite near to the T20 World CUP, also to be held in Sri Lanka. Thus, the common excitement will be at its crescendo, and preferences divided according to the zones. Seven teams have been finalized to hit the buttons.
Basnahira XI will be led by Dilshan, and Wayamba XI by Jayawardhene. Kandurata XI will be helmed by Sangakkara and Uva XI by Vaas. Uthura XI will be captained by Vettori and Ruhunu XI by former super-bat Jayasuriya. Nehenagira XI will be skippered by brilliant Shahid Afridi; a testament to the fact that SLPL will have access to Pakistan players; something that IPL has missed for 4 seasons. Akhtar, Razzaq, Ajmal and Misbah will be quite sought after when SLPL unleashes.
Gayle, Gibbs, Shaun Marsh and David Warner will be the overseas commitments set to create a rage on Lankan shores. Indians, too, are sending a strong contingent of players; Irfan Pathan, Ravindra Jadeja, Munaf Patel and Praveen Kumar among the most prominent.
Sri Lanka is not too rich in terms of fledgling youngsters, owing to its short size, and yet only four foreign players will be allowed per team per match, much like IPL. Every team has been allotted six foreign purchases. source-http://slpltickets.com
