The report, quoting an Indian state minister says, following an inspection by the nuclear reactor team, the trial for enrichment of Uranium fuel will be initiated in 20 days.
Within another 40 to 45 days, 1,000 MW of power is expected to be produced from the plant.
The move comes amidst Sri Lanka showing concerns that if the nuclear plant face a disaster, the possible radiation effects it could have on the country.
However, Sri Lanka said, it is not opposing the plant, but wants India to work with it to take precautionary action to face such a situation.
The plant which is located in India’s Southern coast is just 250 km from Sri Lanka’s Northwestern coastal town of Mannar. source-http://www.news360.lk
