The Mumbai Indians strengthened their hopes of securing a place in the IPL play offs thanks to a nervy one run victory over the Pune Warriors at the Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium in Pune.
The Indians successfully defended a total of just 120-9 after they restricted the Warriors to just 119-6 to move up into third place in the IPL group standings after their 6th victory of the tournament.
It proved to be a disappointing day for the Warriors who slumped to 7th defeat to leave them in serious danger of missing out on the play offs after starting off the tournament so brightly.
Mithun Manhas (42) lead the Warriors run chase but his vital innings proved to be in vain as the home sides top order failed to fire with a simple victory in sight at the half way stage of the game.
Sachin Tendulkar (34) and James Franklin (26) lead the way for the Indians but four run outs looked to have lost the game for the Indians before their bowlers lead a successful fightback.
